In order to give to Nova SBE as an individual, all that is needed is:
a) Open a CAF charity account here (if you already don’t have one).
b) Top-up your account.
c) Click “Manage donations/Donate overseas”, and fill the required fields:
Organisation name: Fundação Alfredo de Sousa
Postal address: Rua do Colégio 5, 2750-323, União Freguesias Cascais Estoril, Lisboa, Portugal
Email address: [email protected]
Contact’s name: Mafalda Guedes
Contact’s email address: [email protected]
Your contact’s telephone number: +351 968 461 165
d) Make a minimum donation of 250 pounds sterling plus fees (CAF guideline). Please see fees below:
|Paid intro your account, plus Gift Aid payments||CAF Fee||CAF Contribution||Contribution to NCVO|
|The first £20,500||0.75%||2.25%||1%|
|The next £20,500.01 – £113,000||–||–||1%|
|Amounts above £113,000||–||–||–|
*These fees are applied on the sum of all donations made from your CAF charity account.
e) Request Gift Aid with your donation – the online process will ask you to opt-in. This way Nova SBE will automatically receive an additional 25% on top of the value given.
f) Feel free to copy [email protected] in any emails sent to CAF so that we can offer support.
g) Higher rate taxpayers: If you pay tax above the basic rate, you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation. It’s the same if you live in Scotland. Do this either: through your Self Assessment tax return; or by asking HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to amend your tax code.
Example: You donate £100 to charity – they claim Gift Aid to make your donation £125. You pay 40% tax so you can personally claim back £25.00 (£125 x 20%).
You can find more information about Tax relief when you donate to a charity at gov.uk.
Nova SBE Alumnus, Afonso Varatojo Januário, already donated from UK using CAF and is willing to guide you through this process if needed – [email protected] .
